Good Books

This is a book I pretty much force on every married or interested-in-marriage person I know:

The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work by John Gottman

Read it.  You won’t regret it.  Also, we found this book on personality type to be particularly helpful as we were learning about each other (the ENFJ, INFJ stuff):

Please Understand Me II -- Temperament, Character, Intelligence by David Kiersey

Here are a few books that have helped me on my spiritual journey:

Fear and Trembling by Soren KierkegaardThe Hungering Dark by Frederick BuechnerThe Magnificent Defeat by Frederick BuechnerNo Perfect People Allowed by John Burke

Thoughts in Solitude by Thomas Merton

(I highly recommend anything and everything by Frederick Buechner.  He’s the man).

You ever read Kierkegaard’s The Sickness Unto Death? It’s brilliant, probably my fave of K’s corpus.
